I write small angel checks at pre-seed and Series A, never as the lead, and I advise a handful of early-stage companies. I invest my own money and decide alone, so I can go from a first email to a yes in one conversation.
What I back
I back mission-driven founders building a product people can already use. I filter on the problem before the team, so I pass on incremental and lifestyle apps. I look for builders who obsess over their craft and their customers, ship in the open, and have already worked out how to talk about what they do. First-time founders are welcome when there's an experienced operator alongside them.
I invest from pre-seed through Series A. Cybersecurity and AI are where I add the most as an operator; in sustainability, modern healthcare access, modern banking, and non-alcoholic drinks I back the mission and the problem.
Where I help
Fourteen years of running Trail of Bits taught me how technical companies earn trust and sell to skeptical buyers. I help founders build that trust, sharpen go-to-market, explain what makes their engineering different, and reach the right people across security, Silicon Valley, and defense.
